at Festival in the Borough Sept. 7;

Two day fest includes Jimmy & The Parrots, Southbound, Rockin' Blue, Brooke Shive, Genya Ravan

Also check out the Blues Stage on Saturday, Country/Bluegrass on Sunday

Lehigh Valley club scene icons Magnum, which includes many members from the Greater Washington area including Davey Werkhiser, will be celebrating its 35th anniversary at this year's Festival in the Borough.

Magnum is just one of over 25 acts that will be on the scene for this year's largest street and music festival, the Festival in the Borough, on September 7 and 8. Also being featured will be CBGBs history maker Genya Ravan! Both Magnum and Ravan are scheduled for Saturday.

Magnum performs on Saturday on the PNC Stage, while the ever-popular Jimmy & The Parrots bring their high energy act back to Washington on Sunday. The NJ American Water Stage features blues music on Saturday and bluegrass & country on Sunday. Throughout the late 70s and 80s, in particular, Magnum was arguably the top club band in the Lehigh Valley and Western NJ region. These days they play only a select few dates a year.

The 9th annual Festival in the Borough, which was recently named the Top Festival in the Skylands Region, features 3 stages of entertainment. In addition to the PNC Stage in the center of the Downtown, there will be music at the NJ American Water Stage on W. Washington Avenue and the Investors Bank Acoustic Tent on the Avenue.

The family-friendly event also has lots of fun stuff for the kids to do, including inflatable rides, a rock climbing wall, bungee jump, games, appearances by celebrity look-a-like Sponge Bob, free crafts and hula hooping.

Among the other bands scheduled to play this year are Southbound, Electric Gumbo, RBI, Rockin' Blue, Stone Cold Fever, Slackjaw, Jugtown Mountain String Band, Still Hand String Band (from Scranton), Chuck Schaefer & Full Moon Howling, The Bad Hands and Brooke Shive & the 45s.

The Saturday portion of the event will run from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. while Sunday's hours will go from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

In addition the streets will be lined with dozens of vendors selling an array of items, as well as a host of participating downtown businesses. Food of all varieties will also be on hand. For vending information or more details on the festival itself, visit or call the WBID office at 908-689-4800.

Major sponsorship for the festival is provided by PNC Bank, BASF, New Jersey American Water, Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, WRNJ Radio, Mr. Music, Investor Savings, Good Impressions Printing & Mailing, and WNTI Radio, with grant funding from the Warren County Cultural & Heritage Commission.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available. For more information, contact the WBID, 908-689-4800.
